Another interesting food served at the festival

The other day we talked about BBQ Sundaes that will be served at the Tri-State BBQ Festival. (If you missed this post, it’s worth the effort to look back a few days and see that post. The photos are great!). Today, we’ll talk about dessert.

Of course, we’ll have Italian Ice, Sno Cones, Funnel Cakes and all kinds of sugary treats for dessert. But Eddy Stevens has come up with a sinfully delicious treat that feels more “grown up” and decadent than most festival foods. He’s calling his dessert

Pie in the Sky takes various home-made pies (Peanutbutter, Key Lime, Cheesecakes to name a few) and puts a stick through them and freezes it all together. After frozen, it’s removed from the freezer long enough to be dipped in chocolate, then it’s wrapped and refrozen. This provides an enjoyable slice of pie for festival goers and it doesn’t require a plate or fork to eat it!

In addition to pies, Pie in the Sky also has frozen bananas dipped in chocolate on a stick as well. The booth has a Caribbean feel to it (pictured below) and you’ll want to check it out at the Tri-State BBQ Festival in Dothan, Alabama on April 13-14, 2012. My suggestion would be to check it out after you’ve eaten your fill of BBQ at the People’s Choice sampling and tasting (Saturday from 2:30- 4:00 pm) and before you rock and roll with the KJams at 7:00 pm. That way you can fill up before dancing all those calories off!
