Just to clarify a number of calls we’ve received today, there are two days to the festival, and you need a separate ticket each day to enter.
Friday night is the BBQ Bash and all of the proceeds from ticket sales go straight to the Wiregrass United Way 2-1-1. This is their major fundraiser for the year, and they put on the BBQ Bash to raise funds to support their programs that help so many in our area. Friday night there is a concert and yard party under the stars — bring a blanket or chair and come out prepared to have fun. The night’s bands are Kristan Mikala and later on the Bopcats. (Great Southern Rock and Blues!) Also on Friday night, you can attend the Lang Q-School whole hog cooking class, and the kids can play for free on inflatables and bouncers. (All included in your ticket which is a 100% tax deductible donation to the 2-1-1). Adults are $10 and students and senior citizens are $5. Children 6 and under are free. Gates open 5pm- 10pm.
Saturday it’s all about BBQ! The event is open from 10-10 and features 70 teams competing for $11,000 in prize money. Enjoy samples from 2:30- 4:00 and vote for your favorites (included in your ticket). Plates for sale and other great food from vendors as well. There are free inflatables and activities for kids, and the Lang Q-school will teach you how to make better BBQ at noon, 2 and 4pm. Free craft project for the kids, and the New South Cruisers will have a fantastic Car Show from 10 am – 2pm. There is entertainment all day on the main stage, and some laid back entertainment in the beer tent as well. There’s free samples of Blue Bell Ice Cream (Franks Hot Sauce had to pull out on Saturday) and lots of great food and shopping vendors. The KJams are playing at 7:00 pm on the stage and you’ll enjoy the show. Make sure that you bring a lawn chair or blanket but no coolers are allowed! Adults are $10 and students and senior citizens are $5. Children 6 and under are free.
So, as you can see, there are two days of fun. Each day has its own admission ticket, though the price is still the same. You need a separate ticket to enter on Friday and also one to enter Saturday.
The United Way 2-1-1 is also selling raffle tickets on a Big Green Egg and stand at the BBQ Festival. For just a $10 donation to 2-1-1 you can get a chance to win a $1200 Big Green Egg. Please consider taking a chance on this and supporting the work they do in out community. For more info on Wiregrass 2-1-1 visit their web site http://w211.cfsites.org/
Tickets are now available online ( http://2012bbq.eventbrite.com/ ) or at the door. Locations that had advance tickets will no longer have them for sale after tomorrow (so we can reconcile the books before the gates open.) Thanks for your support of the Tri-State BBQ Festival and also the Wiregrass United Way 2-1-1.

Sure hope I win these tickets today, we broke as all get out
