Congratulations to Backyard Winners 2 Fat Boys and a Grill

Other results from the contest not posted on their site include the People’s Choice and Southern Hospitality competition. Local team Smell My Butts overwhelmingly won the BEST BBQ award and $250.00. Then, in a separate contest, Smell My Butts edged out the all-girl team Blazin’ Babes by a slim margin of 23 votes.

How about a custom trophy  made by artist Joe Goodson?

That’s awesome, but there’s more! Is it the fact that our contest is the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for the sanctioning body, the Florida Bar-B-Que Association? That’s cool, too but no. Is it because the winner from our competition earns points for the Triple Crown cook off? no…. Is it because the winner gets a “draw” to be considered for the Jack Daniels Invitational?  No, but getting warmer!

I’m not kidding! The winner from our contest will go on to represent the Tri-State BBQ Festival and the FBA in what is arguably one of the most prestigious invitationals in the world!  The paperwork for the winner to complete and return to the officials at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue will be in the winners envelope with the check for $2,000. (Oh, yeah… and a W-9 that I need back.) Best of all- your entry fee to the Royal is included in your win.

These trophies won’t be stored in a closet someplace, that’s for sure! The winners of these two awards will surely place them in a spot of honor to show off the beautiful craftsmanship.

Joe makes beautiful pieces of art from glass, and we’d really strongly encourage you to take a moment to visit his booth at the Tri-State BBQ Festival this year. Stop by and tell him how beautiful his work is!  His artwork is very affordable, and will add a touch of beauty or whimsy to your home.  His booth looks like this-
